Your background before joining EP – My background before joining Engage People was in the hospitality and tourism sector where I worked as a Marketing Assistant and Duty Manager in a hotel whilst completing my degrees. In terms of my educational background, I hold a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master’s Degree in Marketing Management. My degrees and experience combined gave me a strong platform from which to progress and achieve success at Engage People.

Your first 6 months – A busy time building out the marketing function whilst adjusting to life back in Ireland after a couple of years in the Netherlands. I was provided with an excellent mentor and a clear onboarding plan to help me get up and running. I got stuck into the devised marketing roadmap and started to build out the core aspects of our marketing function, such as the Engage Tracker. It was a challenging but rewarding time as things began to take shape. Clear training was provided as I honed my skillset during the day-to-day and became better at strategizing. I grew so much professionally and personally over the first 6 months.

What you liked about your job – The thing I liked most about it was seeing the direct results from the work I carried out. In a company of this size, you can see the direct effects of your effort and it is incredibly rewarding and a great feeling. I love the buzz of winning new businesses or roles off the back of our marketing efforts. I also liked how varied the role is, two days are rarely the same and as such my skillset has grown massively across a number of areas out of necessity. Of course the team here at Engage People played a key role in making the role enjoyable too.

The team and culture – It’s a high-performance, high-ambition culture here at Engage People, we don’t believe in passengers on our growth journey and that is a key consideration for us when hiring. We work hard as a team but we are well rewarded when success is achieved so it’s a great environment to be a part of as we continuously strive to get better. I have worked with many great people during my time here and learned so much from them over the last few years. As I prepare to leave, I do so in the knowledge that they will remain friends for life.

Career development – Engage People provided me with clear progression and development opportunities throughout my time here. From having my own external mentor to travelling abroad for marketing conferences, I have been able to grow my career, knowledge and network extensively. Off the back of strong performance and regular conversations around stepping up, I progressed to Manager level at an early stage of my career. I have seen many of the team experience promotions to the next level during my time here due to the performance levels. It’s an excellent place for hungry individuals to take achieve the next step.

Reason for departing - I am leaving to travel Australia and Asia. I want to see a different part of the world and experience living and working in a different continent for a while. I have loved my time at Engage People and am excited to see what the company achieves from afar.
