A unique opportunity has emerged to lead a prominent credit union in the East Coast region. Serving over 40,000 members and managing assets exceeding €200 million, our client is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive range of financial services through modern, digitally enabled channels. They are now seeking a dynamic and strategic CEO to guide the credit union through its next phase of growth and innovation.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for driving the strategic vision of the credit union, ensuring operational excellence, and leading a talented management team. This role involves a blend of strategic planning, financial management, team leadership, and stakeholder engagement to support the mission of delivering exceptional service to members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning & Implementation: Develop and execute a robust strategic plan, aligning with both short-term and long-term goals. Provide insights into strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to guide informed decision-making.

  • Financial Management: Oversee financial performance, including budget management, investment portfolios, and resource allocation. Ensure transparent communication of financial results to stakeholders.

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead daily operations across multiple branches, driving continuous improvement in service delivery, particularly through digital channels. Empower and motivate the management team to achieve high performance.

  • Compliance & Risk Management: Uphold rigorous internal controls and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, including statutory returns to the Central Bank of Ireland.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, industry partners, and community groups, to advance the credit union's goals.

Competencies Required:

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior management role, ideally within the financial services sector.
  • A third-level qualification in Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with a track record of managing change effectively.
  • Excellent people management skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.
  • A commitment to transparency, integrity, and the values of the credit union movement.
