Account Director - Commercial Lines

Location: Dublin (Hybrid )

My client, a leading Irish insurance brokerage with a significant national portfolio, is seeking a Commercial Lines Account Director to drive new business growth while managing a select book of existing clients.

The Opportunity

This is a senior, client-facing commercial role focused on winning and converting high-value commercial new business while maintaining strong relationships across a small portfolio of existing accounts. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional sales teams, contribute to company-wide sales campaigns, and take the lead on generating larger commercial opportunities.

A hybrid setup is offered, with a strong emphasis on face-to-face client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a small book of existing commercial clients.
  • Lead new business acquisition activities across Commercial Lines.
  • Identify, quote, and convert new commercial opportunities, including complex risks.
  • Consistently meet income, revenue, and referral targets.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline, achieving agreed conversion ratios.
  • Deliver best-in-class customer service to all clients and prospects.
  • Work closely with broking and compliance teams to ensure all activity meets regulatory standards.
  • Support and guide Account Executives as required.
  • Manage premium collection and aged debt effectively.
  • Ensure full compliance with all audit and corporate governance requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience (Core Requirements)

Only candidates who meet all of the below will be considered:

  • CIP qualification (ACII qualified or progressing towards ACII is strongly preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years' Commercial Lines experience within the insurance industry.
  • Demonstrable track record of new business development and revenue growth.
  • Proven ability to convert large and complex commercial risks into long-term clients.
  • Strong technical insurance knowledge across Commercial Lines.
  • Fully compliant with the Central Bank MCC and Fitness & Probity standards.
