Group Head of Internal Audit

One of Europe's Largest Privately-Owned Engineering & Construction Groups | Ireland

We are working with one of Europe's largest privately-owned engineering and construction groups to appoint a Group Head of Internal Audit. The business delivers complex projects across data centres, life sciences, and advanced technology for some of the world's biggest companies, and is going through a strong period of growth.

This is a newly shaped role with real scope. The right person will lead the internal audit function and work closely with the Audit Committee and senior leadership on governance, risk, and control.

The Role

You will own the internal audit function end to end. That means setting the annual audit plan, leading the team, managing relationships with co-source partners, and reporting directly to the Audit Committee.

As the business grows, there is a genuine opportunity to develop the function and raise the bar on how internal audit operates across the organisation.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Developing and delivering a risk-based annual internal audit plan.
  • Managing the internal audit team and supporting their development.
  • Working with external co-source partners where needed.
  • Presenting findings and reports to the Audit Committee.
  • Building relationships with senior management to support a strong control environment.
  • Improving audit processes, tools and reporting over time.
  • Collaborating with other risk and assurance functions across the business.
  • Using data and technology to make audit work more effective.

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience leading an internal audit function in a commercial environment.
  • A track record of developing and delivering audit plans.
  • Comfortable presenting and engaging at Board or Audit Committee level.
  • Good people management skills and an interest in developing others.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A practical, commercial approach to risk and control.

Desirable:

  • Experience in engineering, construction or a similar project-led industry; though not essential.
