Our client, a respected and expanding insurance brokerage, is seeking an experienced Account Director to manage a portfolio of SME and mid-market commercial clients. This senior role is ideal for an insurance professional with strong client relationship skills, commercial awareness, and a passion for delivering excellent service and new business growth.

The Role - What You'll Be Doing Day to Day

As Account Director, you will be responsible for managing a commercial book of business, developing new business opportunities, and supporting Account Executives in achieving team goals. This role offers a balance of strategic client management, commercial development, and internal leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and servicing a portfolio of SME and mid-market commercial clients across a range of sectors.
  • Handling all aspects of the insurance lifecycle, including renewals, mid-term adjustments, claims support, and client queries.
  • Conducting thorough risk assessments and designing tailored insurance solutions.
  • Leading client meetings, site visits, and renewal presentations.
  • Generating new business through referrals, networking, and pipeline management.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with insurers and underwriters to negotiate competitive terms.
  • Supporting and mentoring Account Executives and junior team members.
  • Ensuring all client activity is fully compliant with Central Bank regulations and company procedures.

Experience and Qualifications - What You Must Have

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the general insurance industry, with a proven background in commercial lines insurance.
  • CIP qualification is essential.
  • Further progression toward or completion of the ACII designation is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in managing commercial clients and achieving retention and new business targets.
  • Strong technical knowledge of key commercial insurance products, including property, liability, motor fleet, professional indemnity, cyber, and others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Open I or similar systems is advantageous.
  • Full compliance with the Central Bank of Ireland's Minimum Competency Code (MCC) and Fitness & Probity Standards.
